How to build a brand in 2022?

Branding is the process of creating an aesthetic of your business, to resonate with your audience.

Brands are like people. They have a personality, a character, and a soul. Brands can change your habits, and build a new perception of who you are as a daily interactive partner – at work and home. Brands can be beautiful, trustworthy, and efficient. Brands can be authoritative, smart, and independent.

If you would like to establish a genuine relationship with your customers based on trust, read on.

Determine why you’re unique

When I started my career, I thought that building a brand meant having a nice logo and website. But as I discovered, later on, it's not just about the visual aspects of your brand. The real work is behind the scenes: You have to know who you are, what makes you unique, and how you can communicate that to others.

But many companies don't take the time to build their brands properly. They write up a list of bullet points about what they do and call it a "brand statement."

It all comes down to knowing yourself and who your customers are.

Building a genuine connection with your customers is vital if you want them to trust what you're selling or promoting. You need them to believe in what you're doing – whether it's providing great customer service or making sure they're getting value for money when they buy from you. This will help create trust between you and your customers, which leads us to our next point:

You need to think about why your business exists in the first place, and then determine how those reasons can be expressed through your branding efforts. For example: If you run an online clothing store, maybe it's because you want people to feel empowered by their clothing choices to live a certain lifestyle.

Create a brand guideline

Consistency is the key to building a lasting brand identity. It's about maintaining a strong identity that resonates with your target audience and reflects your core values as an organization.

The key thing to remember when building your brand is that there should be no room for confusion.

This is where you will need to develop your brand visuals with logos, typography, photos, and colours. All the visuals that are consistent across all your marketing materials — from social media posts to website design to packaging.

Your logo should be displayed prominently on every piece of marketing collateral and in the header of your website.

Your brand should be unique and recognizable, but also versatile enough so it can be applied to different products or marketing materials.

Finally, make sure that you have clear photos of your products or services on hand for use in social media posts and other marketing collateral. These can be either professional photos taken by an agency or stock photos purchased from an online resource such as Shutterstock or Adobe Stock.
